My open work permit expires next month and I applied for my open work permit extension and PR file together a month ago. Processing times for sponsorship PR is about 12 months and work permit extension processing time is 2 months. Will I get my open work permit in time? or both application will take 12 months? Please help.

OWP usually takes 3-4 months, but if you had a previous permit and you are applying for an extension maybe it is faster. I'm not sure. I do with you good luck.

Would you know how long until they send an acknowledgement email to link my paper application to my online account? I submitted my files in last week of November 2018. Thanks.

We sent in our OWP and PR sponsorship paperwork and they received it (we are inland) on August 16. My sponsor received an AOR (Acknowledgement of Receipt) on September 13. I received my OWP on November 20th.
We have yet to receive the linking information, however I was able to link my paperwork to a GCKey online. It was kind of tough, but I finally got it to link by placing a space after every entry. Sounds weird, I know but it worked! I think I used the App number and my UCI number to link. Someone else told me about the space after each entry and it finally worked for me. If you applied for your OWP before it expired I would think you would still be "in status". I also encourage you to check with your local MP's office for assistance. Ours has been HUGELY helpful!

My open work permit expiring soon and I want to switch job not sure if I will be able to do it.

Okay I currently have PGWP and I applied for open work permit with my PR application.

PGWP are not extendable so you can't work during implied status. OWP should take around 4 months.
