Work Permit expiring Dec..what are my options

I came to Canada in march 2014 by intra company transfer and am working as manager in aerospace sector since then. My WP was originally for three years but as my passport is due for renewal in April 2017, the officer stamped my WP validity till Dec 2016.

Recently my employer has hired a law firm to process my PR in Express Entry. I have completed IELTS and WES verification in process. The lawfirm also placed a job advertisement for LMIA.

What are my options to extend my WP till Express Entry process is completed.

Might be a stupid question for which I apologise in advance but if your employer has taken on a lawyer to handle your EE or LMIA application then they should know the answer else maybe wouldnt hold out much hope for the PR application if the lawyer who I asume your employer is paying does not have the answer. I expect forum members anyway will offer suggestions although you might need to put in place a plan now to renew your passport as soon as you are able.

The issue is that our HR is located in USA and not sure if they are aware of Canadian laws.
I have anyways highlighted the concern to them and my manager too.

Ideally I would have liked to clarify directly with the lawyer, but our HR seems to prefer relaying emails.

Thats why I am bit confused on what the lawyer are planning.

I am yet to get a response from lawyers through HR on my WP extension.

I got my IELTS done(band 8) and WES is in process. Out of four academic documents I submitted WES site shows three have been accepted(including the BSC degree) but the university is yet to send degree marksheet to WES. Have been calling the university but no confirmation yet.

I also believe LMIA process is on for me.

Under current scenario, do you think my lawyers can get a wp etension before Dec or I should prepare to leave the country in time.

Any guidance will be apprecitaed.
