Hi Everyone,

I am currently working under my PGWP which expires in May 2017, I have been working over a year now and my express entry profile score is just at 444.. I don't think I have any chance of receiving an ITA before my work permit expires next year. Does anyone know if there is any way I can extend my work permit even though I don't have an ITA? Any help would be much appreciated.

Your employer needs to obtain an approved LMIA.

Thank you!

I am trying to figure out if there is a way to extend it without my employer's help. I have heard that if I have a valid job offer and fill out the IMM 5710 which is the application to extend my work permit I should be able to get extension specially since I am still employed. I am just not sure who to trust at this point and do not know how to proceed. I already spoke with my employer about LMIA and they are not liking this option because of the fact that they have to advertise the position so basically they find this option expensive to them. Any suggestions?

This is inaccurate and will result in a refusal.

If you want to extend without your employer's assistance, then you either need to already have a PNP nomination from one of the provinces or ITA & AOR.

Otherwise your employer needs to obtain an approved LMIA.

Is a Bridging Open Work Permit not an option for this person?

No, not given current status. BOWP is for people who have applied for permanent residence. OP has not yet earned an ITA and is not likely to (unless there are program changes for former students that are implemented before his/her PGWP expires).

That's could work under some circumstances only if you are a Quebec resident
