I am wondering that someone can help. I currently have a valid work permit with expires in November 2012, my pr application is still in process. I am planning to travel out of Canada in December for 2 weeks and planning to re-enter after that. What do I do?

The CIC call centre reprsesntatives do not really know what they are doing, thats why I am here

hello..as far as i know..you should have a valid working permit when you enter Canada,it should not be expired even you are waiting for your PR approval. The CIC immigration officer on the airport will ask for your docu..and you need to apply also for the exit/re entry from the Canadian embassy....thank you.

Hi mevisbleek,

I'm in a somewhat similar situation. So basically between the time your work permit expires (nov 2012) and the time you get your PR (who knows when) you can apply to 'extend your status as a visitor'. This is not a visitor visa its visitor STATUS. So when you apply you give the reason that your work permit will expire and you're waiting for your PR and they grant it to you. Once you have that, you then apply for a TRV so that you can exit and re-enter.
Each application takes 4 weeks plus so I'd calculate the timing and apply soon.
Hope this was helpful.

hello, my work permit is expiring on Oct.3 and Im renewing it online, does anybody know if I need a new LMO and contract even if I stay with the same employer? or just letter from my employer that Im still working for them?pls let me know.tnx

Hi tinytoes,

If it's a post graduate work permit that is expiring you need an LMO from your employer. Post graduate work permits cannot be renewed. You have to get a new work permit for which you need an LMO.
