Hello,

I apologize if this has already been asked however, after doing a search I couldn't find anything that applies directly to my situation.

I am a United States citizen in Canada on a study visa, I also hold an off campus work permit (which I just received).

I was offered employment for a job that is falls under the "health services" field condition for needing a medical exam. (I did not know there was such a condition until my OCWP arrived last week) I plan on doing the medical exam next week.

My question is once the medical exam is completed can I go to the port of entry (Niagara Falls) and have the condition changed on the spot and pay the fee, rather then waiting another 30 days for the online application.

I am looking for the quickest solution to change the condition. (I don't want to loose the job opportunity)

If I am able to change the condition at the port of entry how does that process work? I assume I would need all the same documents as if I were to apply online. Do I need to go back into the US and then back to Canada? or can I just walk into the main border office on the Canada side.

Thank you very much for any information that can be giving.

1. The problem will be that the medical results by the panel physician take about 3/4 weeks to be reviewed and the VO at the border won't necessarily have access to the results.

Thank you for the reply.

So id just have to wait 3/4 weeks for the results to be in the system then go down to the border?

I had my medical exam yesterday and everything went well. The doctor submits everything electronically and he said once the lab results are back in a week he will submit the results and exam. He said once it is submitted the CIC receives it instantly. Does anyone know how long it usually takes for CIC to approve the results and enter them into the system?

From what I can tell by calling and reading around once my result have been approved and entered into the system by the CIC I am able to go the the port of entry and have the condition changed, can anyone confirm this for sure?

Thank you everyone!

I'm interested in this as well, but for different reason. Once "Medical results have been received" is posted in Ecas, does it mean the results have been reviewed by the panel physician already?

Yes. It takes about 2/4 weeks for the results to reach CIC from the Immigration Regional Medical Centre.

Interesting, thanks for the info.

Hi Smiddy,

Did you find out if you can get a new visa with the restriction lifted at a POE?

I am in Canada under the IEC program and want to work in health care. I have had the medical done but have been told that I need to apply to have the change of conditions done and that it can take up to three months!

Thanks.

Hi, simmidy1013
I'm in the same situation- I want to go to border in order to remove the conditions which says "not allowed to work in health care system."
Could you have your WP changed at border in the end?
How many weeks did you wait since you had done your medical exam?

If there is someone who needed medical exam and who succeeded to change the work permit,
Please give me advice.

Thank you
