Hi,

I am interested in applying for a work permit to work in Canada. I work in IT (currently based in London), and prefer to contract rather than work on a permanent basis.

I have been trying to understand whether I am elligible to work in canada on a contract basis - can anyone help please?

I appreciate that I would still need to receive a job offer prior to applying, but is this allowed?

Thanks again!

No, you can't work as a contractor, you work permit is restricted to one employer.

Hi - thanks for the speedy reply.

OK so even if I get a offer of a 12 month contract from a single company I cannot get a work permit that will allow me to work for them on a contract basis?

thanks again!

No, that would make you self-employed, which will not be approved.
