My husband is a PR. I am in Canada on Visitor Visa. My husband is sponsoring me for PR under Spousal Class. I would like to obtain Open Work Permit so that I can work until my PR is approved.
Since it's through spousal sponsorship, you can't apply at the border. I assume your husband is sponsoring you inland. If that's the case, then you either include the OWP application with the inland sponsorship application if you are applying by mail. Or, if you are applying online, you have to wait until you have AOR before you can submit the open work permit application. You should assume it will take around 6-8 months to get the OWP approved from the time the inland spousal sponsorship application is received.
Applying at the border is not possible in this scenario.
