Hi

I applied under live in caregiver program. I already have my positive LMO and contract from the employer.
I am planning to apply for my work permit by next week after I got my NBI clearance.
can anyone in this forum give me some hints regarding the ground for refusal in work permit application
so that I can review again my documents before sending it to the CVa
AC. Do they required interview upon application?

any answer will be appreciated. thanks a lot.

Interview is not done in 90% of the cases. So they only call for interview when they feel something needs to be confirmed / assessed face to face.

You should have formal experience for the job you are going for in Canada along with relevant qualifications if any.

At the very least you should be good in English and french is a bonus.

Proof of prior work experience and qualifications relevant to the job are the most important things.

Then there are other things in the area of "strong ties to home country", such as immediate family there, any assets or other stuff. The more positive this area is, the higher the chances of success.

I am a registered nurse in Philippines by right and I'm currently working here in Singapore in nursing home. I also worked as a private nurse before. i don't have any immediate family there. One more thing, regarding the certificate of employment, I'm not yet two years with my present job and the company that I am working does not give COE not unless I finish my contract. what are the other documents that I need to provide as an alternate for my COE? Can my payslip, work contract and IC be a supportive documents?

thanks.

You can definitely submit your offer letter for current job, current pay slips, contract etc as supportive documents. In fact this is what almost every one does for their most recent jobs since almost no one officially tells their employer while applying for visa that they might leave.

Additionally you should add your bank statement showing actual pays being transferred to your accounts. Pay slips combined with this provides concrete proof of your role and experience.

There is no restriction on when to reapply. If you are an LMO dependent case and your LMO is still valid, you can reapply right away. Embassy is only concerned about fee for processing and that is it.

However, it is strongly recommended and suggested by embassy to reapply only if your situation changes significantly (which caused the original refusal), or you really believe Visa officer misinterpreted something and you clarify that and reapply.

There is no time frame restriction. Still frequent re submissions and refusals would make it look like you are too desperate to go and might not return even if not allowed to stay legally.

Sure, If you apply on paper (i.e. go to a Canadian visa application center and submit docs by hand), you will have to submit original passports right away (unless there is some difference is processing specific to your embassy that i am not aware of).

On the contrary if you apply online, you will submit a scanned copy of passport with application and will receive a "passport request" after medicals (if your country requires medicals) which is like 15 days before actual visa stamping. Receiving passport request almost means that your visa is granted unless they find some thing odd in passport or otherwise latter, which is pretty rare.

I already went to the CVAC this afternoon but they refused my application. They asked me to submit for a bank statement for the past three months and they are looking for the proof of sufficient fund. Is it really necessary to have one, since I am applying under live in caregiver program. And they also asked me to change the bank draft because they said the address of bank must be written in the bank draft. I return to the bank where I took the bank draft they said that they can use the bank draft in any branch of toronto dominion bank. I haven't return yet to the CVAC because im so confused already.

Things might differ from country to country. But it is strange to me that they are asking for bank statement with proof of funds if you already have a job offer.

In case of work permit, you only show bank statement to support your profile. To show evidence that you have had incomes regularly transferred to your account from the same work that you intend to do in Canada. So bank statement with employment letters, pay slips etc. helps with that.

I applied with very little money in my account, not even enough to pay air ticket. Nor did any of my friends apply with much money. All of these were work permit applicants, albeit highly skilled ones with job offers and all of us got approvals along with families.

The bank draft thing might be specific format of fee submission for visa application. That you have to follow whatever embassy in your country asks for.

Generally if you apply online, you have to use a credit card. If you are apply at a VAC, you need a draft in CAD or pay the cash equivalent at some bank which issues you the same. Either way it is a standard procedure followed at every embassy and shouldn't really have much issues.

So it means that the bank statement that they asked me to take is just to support my profile? because in the new checklist that they gave me, they check that I need a proof of fund and it is written there that i need a bank statement for at least 3 months..

Yes exactly. It is more like a supporting proof that you have been earning in the field you claim and intend to work in Canada in.

What Proof of funds? What amounts? You are not going for study visa in which case the tuition fee for the program plus living cost for a year (roughly 12k CAD for one person) is required to be shown.

The checklist you see is for work permit application? Why don't you take a look at the work permit checklist on cic's general website i.e. not specific to country?

You are right in saying that it does have an entry for proof of available funds

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5488E.pdf

This checklist seems to have been updated in August 2013 and i probably have seen the older version.

Still i don't really think any "funds" are required for work permits even if they are live in caregivers.

So you might take a bank statement for whatever you have in your account SHOWING your pay regularly being transferred for the last 3 months along with pay stubs and i expect you should be good to go.

I will take tomorrow a bank statement but I don't have much money to show since my salary is not so high here in Sg. And regarding the bank draft, is it necessary the address of the bank in Canada?
