Hello Everyone,

A Canadian Employer wants to hire me, but before that the employer wants to know that what documents are required from their side and also from my side ? and how long will it take for me to land in Canada once the employer has submitted all the required documents.

I suggested her to apply for an LMIA Document first. Is that right ? How long does it take for an LMIA Approval ?

What is the exact process to get a work permit for Canada and what documents are required ?

I hope someone would help me.

Regards,
Himanshu

Yes - an LMIA is required. This is something your employer must obtain. It's quite possible for the LMIA process to take 4-6 months to complete end to end. Your employer will have to start by advertising the job for at least a month according to the LMIA advertising requirements to prove no Canadian could be found for the role. In addition to paying for the costs of advertising the job, your employer will also have to pay a $1,000 LMIA fee.

You can find information about the work permit process on the CIC web site.

Thank you for your reply.

But my employer is finding very difficult to prove that no canadians can be found to work for the role. How can she (the employer) get a positive LMIA ? There are a lot of questions that why you are not able to find any local candidate to work for this position. This and that.

Could you please help ? How an employer can get a positive LMIA with minimum hassles ?

I'm not sure I understand your question. If she can't prove that no Canadians can be found for the role then the LMIA is going to be refused. The whole point of the LMIA is to prove she couldn't find a Canadian for the role. If she wants to obtain an approved LMIA, then she needs to follow all of the LMIA process steps exactly including properly advertising the job, ensuring the job is paying at least the median wage for the role, submitting a complete application, paying the fees and then likely waiting several months for the application to be processed. There are no short cuts and there is no minimum hassles route - it's a long and time consuming process.
