Work Permit and Visa dates Mismatch

Hi..

I applied in Jan 2016 and got a multiple entry VISA for closed work permit till Jan 2018 from India. When I landed in Canada in March 2016, due to some paperwork mismatch in the company documents, the officer at the Port of entry gave me work permit till Nov 2016 only. In the passport stamp also he wrote the date for leaving as Nov 2016.

In Nov 2016, I applied for the same closed work permit extension from within Canada and got it approved till Nov-2018. Now I have two documents, Multiple entry VISA to Canada till Jan 2018 and Valid work permit till Nov 2018.

So now the question is do I need to apply for a new VISA as well? Or the original VISA is still valid till Jan 2018? I would like to travel back to home and come back to Canada in the near future and wondering whether this situation will cause any issues.

Please clarify if you have faced any issues like these before or direct me to official channels where I can get this confirmed.

Venkat, how long it took for you to get work permit? Did you send your application to Canadian Consulate, Banglore?

How long it takes to get the work permit from India? Did you apply online or paper?

It took around 45 days to get the WP upon submitting all the documents. My company processed the application and I guess they did it through Paper mode-VFS.

Your TRV (Temporary resident Visa) is Valid till Jan 2018 so you are to good to re-enter Canada before it expires, If you apply for TRV extension it will be extended till Nov 2018 coz its based on Work permit validity. Its up to you when you travel and based on that you can decide.
