You have mentioned that you completed your studies here. Did you get the CEC approval based on work completed when you were on PGWP? If yes, then the extended permit i.e. closed work permit is tied to the employer you mentioned in the application.Dekanac said:Excuse me? I have valid work permit, I went to school here... I am not here illegally man... I just want to work because I've been laid off... What's wrong with that man, tell me?
In the worst case scenario I will get my employment insurance. I wanted to avoid that since I found 3 jobs already... but sure I'll get it and sit at home until I get my PR.
Don't you see that LMO/new WP thing doesn't work? We are talking about business world here, I am telling you, companies won't wait for you 6 months! That is ridiculous!
If this is how you obtained your closed work permit, you ARE able to change the employer without a LMO. As I mentioned earlier, my friend had the exact situation and had her WP changed at the border.
I see all comments stressing on the fact that a closed work permit is tied to an employer - yes it is! During the duration of the closed work permit ( if obtained as outlined above) you can change job and get the work permit changed to reflect the new employer WITHOUT a LMO.
Rest is on you how you would like to proceed. I reckon you should speak to a lawyer and get this clarified than rely on hearsay.
