Hi

I'm currently on the closed work permit and have to visit my country for 2-3 months but will be working from there. Will there be a problem if we step outside of Canada for few months and return as my salary will be still running in Canada.. Has anyone experienced this ?

You can work remotely. If planning for PR, you can’t count your experience outside the country as Canadian experience for CEC.

Thanks for your response. So for a PR , instead of 12 months as eligibility I've to wait for 2-3 months extra as I am outside of Canada. Any issue with taxation or any immigration if live outside for such long time

That's correct.

No issues with taxation or immigration.

You should obviously let your employer know and get their approval before working outside of Canada.

Hi,

I have the exact same scenario. I am on a closed work permit and planning to visit my country for a month. What exact problem are you referring to? The only issue I see is that if you plan to apply for PR later, you will have to wait for the time you were out of Canada and if that is not part of leaves granted by the company your work for.

I understood about the PR that but my case is planning a travel for more than 2-3 months so will there be an issue from a immigration standpoint when entering into Canada after those many days

What documents apart from closed work permit and passport , Arrivecan are required at port of entry( toronto Pearson airport) after returning from vacation ? Please provide a guidance.

Valid TRV or eTA.

You mean visa on passport? I have stamped visa

You need to have a valid TRV in addition to your work permit. The work permit alone is not enough to return to Canada.

not sure if I have to apply a new TRV again as I‘m not a visitor but a worker for company on Intra company transfer.. This not my first entry. Planning for a vacaton and return to Canada.
