that means just a work letter from your employers in the past 4 years not T4's etc
T4's are considered as "work records". Letter from employers are also considered as "work record". Same as Notice of Assessment from CRA. Anything that will show proof of your employment for the past 4 years will do. My 2 cents. I submitted my employment letter for my 2010 employment from outside Canada (before I became an immigrant). I submitted my T4s for my employment in Canada from 2011 to 2013 and my paystubs for my employment from January to July of 2014 in Canada.

My suggestion- Submit only work records during the last 4 years (not 7) preceding the date of your citizenship application. Do not submit documents which are not asked in the guideline.

We're in the same boat! I'm also confused with the instruction in the application form. It says submit work/ educ records but in the Guide, it only says to submit educ records.

I asked a friend who applied recently and she said she attached work records for her and her hubby.

I will just attach our NOAs from CRA and my hubby's T4s. Because I couldn't find our certificate of employment from our previous work in our country of origin, I will just attach a photocopy of our Income Tax Return. Anyway, the name of the company is indicated there.

I'm also confused, especially in regards to my first year out of 4. The fact of the matter is that I'm here in Canada all 3 years without leaving it. However, the guide requires to provide work records for 4 years. Therefore, this includes an employer from my homecountry whom I cannot reach to get his employment confirmation. What shall I do?

Hi, guideline says to send a letter with an explanation why required document is not available.

this thing is still confusing and need more views from more participants, till now every participant who shared their valuable view looks rite,
in checklist there is no demand for any job record
but in forms it self they clearly mentioned about record of work

require more opinions on this issue

If you click QF Yes, then must provide Work/Education document. It is not specified what kind of work document to be provided. Whichever document is relavent to the applicant should submit. It could be Job letter, T4 or NOA. Document requirement issue is not in the guide, rather CIC included this in the application form. Therefore, many applicant either confused or is not aware of the matter clearly..

Hi guys,

Not sure when they changed that but now you may read:

If you answered yes to questions A and/or B, list your work and/or education history (inside and outside Canada) in the past four (4) years, including the city and country,
starting with your most recent. If you were not employed (i.e. you were unemployed, retired, homemaker, etc.) you must indicate the reason for being unemployed and confirm
the dates of your unemployment under "Work/Education" and indicate the time period. Do not exclude any period of time during the past four (4) years. Do not leave this section
blank. If you do, your application will be returned to you. If you answered yes to attending an educational institution, you must provide photocopies of your education records.
(See instruction guide for examples of education records.)
I sent my application 15 days ago. Maybe way too many people have called them and asked?

The current form is from May 2014. It hasn't changed since then. Normally, whenever they update a form, they acknowledge it by putting the month and year on the form footer as well as on the page (see this: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/adults.asp or the footer on this: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/citizen/CIT0002E.pdf).

I did not put anything related to work. I think educational records are what they are interested in the most. Work records become necessary when they feel that your residency is in doubt. For example, if you have multiple trips or if you've been outside Canada for an extensive period of time.

According to a friend of mine who sent his application in September 2014, you could still read (by then) the work related record. Although last month, this mention had disapeared. Not sure what happened but this is not a requirement anymore. (Not sure it was ever a requirement anyway!)
