Hi all,

I am in doubt regarding the Work Contracts and Proof of Compensation in the OINP. I know that for the Federal Program they only ask for the Employment Letter of Reference. In the "Application Guide: Ontario's Express Entry Human Capital Priorities Stream" they ask for Resume, Employment Reference Letters, Work Contracts, Proof of Compensation.

7.4 Proof of Compensation (mandatory)
Proof of compensation from previous and current employers for all periods of work (foreign and Canadian) stated in your application. Proof may include copies of:
 Pay stubs, pay cheques or pay statements,
 Bank statements showing salary deposits,
 Income tax documents, or
 Letter(s) from employer(s) explaining why this proof is not readily available.
Note: It is recommended that you provide proof for the first and last month for each work experience.

Find your NOC: My title in the company was Financial Manager (0111). The problem is that if I go to the NOC CIC page, the requirements are:
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, commerce or a related field is required.
  • A master's degree in business administration (concentration in finance), or another master's level management program may be required.
  • Several years of experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, financial planning and analysis or other financial activities are required.
  • Accounting and audit managers may require a recognized accounting designation (CPA, CA, CPA, CMA or CPA, CGA).
I don't have those requirements. To make things worse, in the Express Entry application page, when you enter your work history, they ask the following question: "Date Applicant first became qualified to practice in this occupation"
What I have is a Mechanical Engineering degree that I acquired in 2015, right before coming to Canada. So, I can't even use this date in that option.

My situation is: I worked for 5 years (from 2011 to 2015) in my father's company (Real Estate agency), where my main role was in the Finance Department but I used to do a lot of extra stuff. I never really had pay stubs, for example. What I am probably able to retrieve is bank statements showing salary deposits (but I need to confirm this because it's from what? 6 years ago?)

My questions are:
  • What NOC can I use on my Work History? The 1221 Administrative Officers seems relevant to my experience and I feel that I can use that. Plus, is a NOC B and requires Secondary School (that would be like High School, right?)
  • What can I use as proof of my work experience? In case I am called for the OINP, I don't have a Work Contract, for example, and it seems to be mandatory. What should I do about this item?
  • In terms of Proof of Compensation mentioned above, which proof would be the easiest to provide? I don't have pay stubs, pay cheques, or pay statements for example. What would be enough in case I receive a NOI from Ontario?
Thank you!
Pedro

What is the issue here? if you worked and were paid, you should be able to provide bank statements, cheques or pay stubs. If you were only paid in cash, then provide a letter from your employer explaining that.

Find your NOC: My title in the company was Financial Manager (0111). The problem is that if I go to the NOC CIC page, the requirements are:

Look for another NOC that is a financial assistant or something. NOC codes are chosen by duties not by title. Even though your title may be Financial Manager, your duties may fall under another NOC code. Besides, not all VOs look at the requirements. More emphasis is placed on the job duties and if they match. Your salary should also reflect your role as a manager if you do choose to proceed with this NOC code.

My situation is: I worked for 5 years (from 2011 to 2015) in my father's company (Real Estate agency), where my main role was in the Finance Department but I used to do a lot of extra stuff. You would have to explain the relationship between you and your employer. It would also be better to go with this NOC as you meet all the requirements. Also ensure that the job duties match. If you have one year of experience, why not apply through express entry?
  • What can I use as proof of my work experience? In case I am called for the OINP, I don't have a Work Contract, for example, and it seems to be mandatory. What should I do about this item?
I was in a similar situation where I had no work contracts or pay stubs after working for my father. I chose to withdraw that application to avoid having to deal with proving the work experience. Since you say you may have salary deposits, that may suffice.
  • In terms of Proof of Compensation mentioned above, which proof would be the easiest to provide? I don't have pay stubs, pay cheques, or pay statements for example. What would be enough in case I receive a NOI from Ontario?
You need proof of compensation. If you decide to go ahead without proof of compensation and in the worst case scenario, you are asked to provide proof, what happens then? keep in mind that you can be accused of misrepresentation. You may want to look at Batman_is_real's profile.

Thank you!
