Work history- did I misunderstand?

During my eligibility period I worked at the same employer. During that time I have been on two leave of absences on maternity. The two maternity leaves had 3 yrs between. So on my work history I wrote :eligibility start date to now : my current employer.
HOWEVER recently on this forum I came across threads which say maternity leave has to be listed in work history b/c of EI is collected. (I collected EI only for the second maternity)

this still doesn’t make sense for me, since my employer didn’t lay me off. When I ask for a letter of employment they provide me with start date from 6 years ago to today. So in there eyes I was employed.
Do I misunderstand how EI works? If you collect maternity EI is that unemployment? Does that really need to be listed on the work history?
My file is in process, so I can add the maternity info through the webform, but I still think it’s unnecessary overkill.

I would be grateful if someone could contradict/reassure my reasoning with some strong argument.

No need to worry about this. Especially so if otherwise you did a very good job providing the information, including a complete and accurate accounting of ALL dates of exit and entry in the presence calculation.

IRCC is not testing applicants for their bureaucratic-form competency. IRCC does not engage in Gotcha-Games. For many of the items in the application form there is no particular "right" answer. Honestly given information responsive to what is asked almost always meets their standards. They figure things out (a lot better than many here give them credit; they are well acquainted, after all, with hundreds of cases and have, to a large extent, pretty much seen it all).

They can discern (usually) whether an applicant is fudging or omitting significant information.

At the very worst, you might be asked to clarify your employment history during the Documents-check and Quality-assurance interview. NOT a big deal.

Don't worry. Be happy.

Thank you. This is what I thought so far.
