there is no requirement for english level for PR, it's only when you apply for citizenship (a few years down the road once you qualify after being a PR and living in Canada).
You have to fill out the sponsorship forms, and as part of that, you will have to give your work history, and a letter from your current employer if you have one.
read here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/index.asp, download the forms for both you and your bf, and start filling them out - it's quite extensive.
Good luck,
Sweden

Thanks that was helpful. Little glad dont have to do the english exam, immigration is stressful enough.

My other question is>>.
My bf has a military background, what sort of info would he require to give regarding it?

AS he is the sponsor ( and not the applicant), he doesn't need to provide any specific information. Sponsors are not required to send police checks etc, as CIC will check directly with RCMP for his background. So he needs to declare his current occupation in the forms, and CIC will contact RCMP to have a criminal background etc.
Good luck,
