So I'm filling the PR application under CEC. I have 1.5 years of full time work experience at a company. I'm also a musician who taught private lessons at people's houses and played gigs; this is my self employed history. How am I supposed to prove my self-employed history when submitting documents?

Also, I'm adding my wife to the application. She has a lot of foreign work experience, which doesn't give any extra points. Are we supposed to contact every company she worked at in Mexico to get those reference letters with her position, hours of work, wage and duties?

Thank you

1 - If we're talking self-employed work experience in Canada it wouldn't add any points to your CRS so you should leave it out of the work history and add it in the personal history section once you receive your ITA.

2 - Your wife's foreign work experience adds no value to your application - leave it blank and add it in the personal history section once you obtain your ITA.

Oh really? Would that be ok?
So on work experience I would only include my 1.5 years of full-time work experience at a company as a baker? I did 11 months of teaching at a music school as an independent contractor. What about that?

So I shouldn't include the times I taught at people's houses nor had performance gigs as self-employed right? As that wouldn't give me any points but include it on personal history.

I also shouldn't include my wife's foreign work experience because it doesn't give any points at all but include it on personal history.

1 - Yes include your experience as baker.
2 - For the teaching at a music school it really depends - if you were an employee of such school then you can claim that experience. Again, self-employed experience won't grant you any points under the CEC program.
3 - Gigs and teaching at people's houses won't get you any points - include in personal history.

4 - Yes, include her foreign work experience only in the personal history section - you do not have to worry about providing any proof of her previous employment.

One last thing. My wife does have work experience in Canada but on jobs not under NOC 0, A or B. Should I omit those as well on her work experience but include them under personal history?

Yes, unskilled work experience won't add any points to your application so again include in personal history and forget about getting any proof of employment for it.

Last question! I promise!
My wife has a teaching degree from Mexico. We live in British Columbia. She is currently doing a Teaching Updating Program for the province. This means that her degree from mexico has not been assessed because it's an education degree. This is why she is doing the teaching updating program. Does this mean that I shouldn't include her Degree from Mexico in the Education history and add it to personal history but include her Canadian studies in education history, which have been a little bit more than a year of full-time studies?

Yes, there is no point adding her mexican degree in the education history if it hasn't been assessed - add it to the personal history.

You can include her canadian studies but make sure you specify that she has not completed her studies otherwise there might be a placeholder for you to upload her degree which she hasn't obtained.

I didn't add her Mexican degree, but when I advanced to the next section where you should submit your documents, it was asking for her degree. I stated clearly that her current studies in Canada are still in progress. That's weird.
