Work experience from staffing agency - unsure about the start date

I have a friend who is employed by a Canada-based staffing agency that provides its employees 3 months of free training before placing them at various companies that happen to be their clients. He has worked with one of their clients for more than 1 year, but he is confused on what to input in the start date in his EE profile, the date he joined the staffing agency, or the placement date.

Any advice?

Ok, so he says he most likely will only include the period when he is working with one of his employer's clients in both the Work History section and the Personal Section, and only include the free training period in the Personal History section, and explain the reason why in LOE.

Does it sound reasonable?

This is what I would do if I were at his shoes. Just a personal opinion, though.
