Work experience as FSW?

Hi there,

I'm a graduate student with study permit. I have 3 years work experience as TA/RA. Can I apply PR through FSW?

I read this from cic:
To be considered under the Canadian Experience Class:

You cannot count work experience you gained while enrolled as a full-time student. Your work experience must have been gained while on a valid work permit, such as the Post-Graduation Work Permit.

You must have gained the equivalent amount of experience as someone who worked full-time for at least one year (1,560 hours) in the three years before you submit your Express Entry profile.

To be considered under the Federal Skilled Worker Program:

Your work experience must have been full-time (or the equivalent in part-time hours), worked continuously and paid, for at least one year in the same occupation.
It seems that the CEC program does not consider this part of experience, but FSW only requires enough continuous working experience.

Some people said the profiles with only TA/RA hours in study permit will not be accepted by EE. I know that CRS calculate the score of working experience only when people have work permit. But can I get into pool of EE first?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, TA/RA under a study permit will count under FSW but not under CEC. In addition, the number of hours your work as a TA/RA in each week really matters. I've been working as a TA/RA for 3 years, and my total hours is greater than 1560*2. However, I'm only awarded 1 yr experience (instead of 2 yr as I think). The reason, I guess, is that my first year TA experience is only 12 hours/week. Please check the official information at (please remove empty spaces by yourself, sorry I'm not senior enough to post external links) http://w w w.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/cec/apply-who.asp

Hi,

If you TA/RA experience is NOT obtained while you are having 12 hours of class/week, then they will be acceptable. Just to check NO, when you are asked this question during the creation of your EE profile.
