Hi,

I have total experience of 8.8 years.
experience breakup as per NOC is as follows:

5.3 years in Software Development (Currently working) --> NOC 2173
Previous:
1 yrs telecommunications operations management (Designation: Assistant Manager) --> NOC 0131 (Telecommunications Manager)
2.5 yrs telecommunications planning & engg management (Designation: Deputy Manager) --> NOC 0131 (Telecommunications Manager)

does selection of primary NOC makes any difference in the process? 2173 is from category A and 0131 is from category 0

1. What NOC should I choose while filling the Express Entry? I haven't yet started to fill the form.
a. what documents I need to get from my previous and current employers.
I have experience letters from both previous jobs but they don't mention my roles and responsibilities in detail.
if anyone has a format of experience letters for 0131 please provide me.
I'm confused.

2. One consultant advised me to not to provide the previous experience and just to provide the 2173 experience otherwise they won't consider me in 2173 because of my previous jobs.
Is it right?
??? :-X

Thanks,

I'd like to share my opinion:

One remind first:
It depends on which category you are going to apply, if you are applying some PNP, some occupations are regulated in some provinces, you may need additional documents or proof (check from the province website to confirm whether 2173 is regulated in the provicne you are going to apply and what kind of proof is needed).

In EE, no matter which NOC you choose (sure choose 1 NOC only as your occupation to claim points), fill the chosen NOC work experience in "work history", and prepare reference letter for the experience you filled.
Other work experience you can fill in the "personal history". That should not request you provide reference letter, sure, that will not help you claim points.
And if you apply PNP, then in EE, make sure PNP and EE you choose same NOC.

In the reference letter, you must state Role and responsiblity, work hours, etc., you may search this forum, I remember there is someone post a template.
But if you are applying through CEC or other category requires Canada experience, you may ask more seniors in this forum or your consultant, I have no idea, but it seems some keywords like "permanent", "non-seasonal" is required in reference letter.

Thanks,
Selection of primary NOC in your case will not make a difference.

Use 2173 as your primary occupation. 2173 is non regulated occupation in Canada. In Express Entry your foreign experience points max out with 3 years of experience. It will be nice to have a continous 3 years experience in same NOC.

Mention only your current experience in the express entry profile. Mention the other two experiences in the personal history section when applying for PR application (i.e., once you get an ITA). You wont need any proofs for the 2 old experiences.

For the current experience. You should have the following:

On a company letter head. Singed by your supervisor, HR. It should have email, phone number and company address.

You should mention your roles and responsibilities in detail. Make sure they match with the NOC code listed duties and responsibilities. You should not copy paste the job duties from NOC.

You should have a line saying: XYZ has been working with ABC ltd. as a permanent full time employee since Jan 1, 2010. He is paid an annual salary of 200,000 paid monthly/biweekly/semi monthly. Mr. XYZ works 40 hour per week.

Hope this helps.

Hi Guys,
Thanks a lot for your valueable inputs.
I was just curious, what difference it makes whether
I mention the previous work experience in work history of EE form,
E.g. if I select primary NOC as 2173 and
In experience put 1. Current Job 2173, 2. Previous job 1 0131, 2. Previous job 2 0131?

It seems you need to mention current job only.
for previous job which not belongs to 2173, no need to fill fore-ITA, in work experience.
But need to fill in "personal history" section post ITA.

That is because any content you fill in "work experience" will requires proof documents and claim points.

Thanks a lot. This clarifies my doubt.
I understand mentioning the prev experience in EE work history is not going to give any advantage(or extra points bcoz as pointed out by @coolhyd points maxout at 3 years), but it would just increase document collection efforts for me.
Thanks again Everyone for your kind responses.

This is true for CRS points. For FSW points, however, you get maximum points for six years and more. That obviously doesn't matter if you can achieve 67 points without showing your full work experience, but it may make a difference if you are a point short.

Obviously, all of this only matters if you are planning to apply via FSW.
Is FSW different than EE?
As I understand FSW is a category in EE which will be implicitly selected based on our inputs in EE profile. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
If mentioning of the previous experience is going to give me any advantage to me at a later stage I'm ready to take the pain to collect the reference letters from previous organizations in prescribed format.
So finally does this mention give me any advantage as I feel my application will be considered under FSW.

It seems like you don't understand the system very well.

Your profile will only be accepted into the EE pool if you meet the eligibility requirements of at least one immigration program.

These are the eligibility requirements for FSW:
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp

As you will see, there is a separate points system for FSW that determines your eligibility for FSW (among other things):
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who.asp

You must have at least 67 points to be eligible. It is a threshold, so having more points does not give you an advantage.

I suggest you calculate your scores with and without the additional work experience to determine if you meet the threshold without including the additional experience.
Thanks dan_and. I did check the details again and I'm eligible even without previous experience.
I updated the info in come to canada tool and building the EE profile now!
