I phoned CIC to clarify some of the requirements and questions in the Adult Citizenship application. I thought it would just be worth sharing what I found out here, though as we know the clarity of responses from CIC can leave a lot to be desired!

-----------

As many are aware, question 6.f. has this vague requirement around work records.

If you answered yes, you must provide photocopies of your work and/or education records
The CIC representative said this could be:

  • Employment contracts
  • Payslips
  • Reference letter from employer

I mentioned to her that many people have suggested T4s and NOA, to which she responded with something similar to "oh yes, those as well". Basically, I see it as they don't want to be seen as explicitly requesting T4s and NOAs (given C-24), but it's open to interpretation. Given that I am including all of the above, but probably just my most recent payslip!

-----------

Question 6.f. again, both my partner and I have parental leave where we returned to our existing jobs. The CIC representative said this could be shown as:

  • 3 rows in the work history, i.e. your dates with the employer before and after parental leave, with the parental leave entry in between (where you must specify the exact dates) or
  • One continuous entry for your employer from start date to end date, with details of the parental leave in a cover letter

-----------

Question 6.g., if you do have a child under school age enter the details (name, birth etc) and put N/A in the table for the education history and check the Child is not at school age box. The representative also said to add a statement in a cover letter to the same effect.

-----------

In summary, the main thing the CIC representative seemed focussed on was including a Cover Letter with additional details for the questions that could potentially be queryable.

I hope this helps

Thank you for sharing these observations! This answers a few questions I've asked elsewhere in this forum. I intend to include a cover letter myself to explain certain seemingly vague time intervals for my work/education. But I plan to do this in a separate sheet instead of in the table provided on the application --- I have about 11 rows to fill out and those boxes can't accommodate the amount of text I have to enter, so I'll go with a separate sheet -- assuming that's acceptable.

I answered the work history question and addresses question in 2 separate excel sheets so I have enough space to explain all the details about the given information.
PS. if you do the same, make sure you mention in the form, for every question, SEE DOCUMENT(or sheet) ATTACHED. Also, this may not be necessary, but I signed those sheets because they are declarations I'm making and need to testify they are true.

I always suggested in this forum to include one because we all have some situations or details that nobody can understand if we don't give details

If you don't have any trips for last 4 years just put NONE or N/A but it seems like you travelled before landing and that's included in the past 4 years !!! so of course you need to list those trips

khakalove, All you have to put in Online Residence Calculation: 1) Arrival Date, 2)Permanent Residence Date, 3)Application Date. As you don't have any trips after becoming PR, the system will calculate and will provide the 2 result: Basic Residence & Physical Residence.
