Two years ...
I think this is the time, does the Immigration give a work permit in the meantime or not?
Anyways, I think the best thing is to find a company to be sponsored by, but I really havo no idea what kind of company might be interested and with the recession I'm afraid they will give priority to Canadians.

Anil, I'm not sure i well understood what your friend did.
How long was his original course?
Mine is 8 months in class + 4 months co op, do you think i will get a 12 months work permit after my study?
Can you explain me how he got a 12 months permit? I want to make sure to get one

Hi Leon and Anil, I just knew about the immigration changes, so now I cannot apply anymore for PR under skileld worker after one year study :( I feel to bad.
Everything is ready and I'm about to leave Italy to take my course and work permit after graduation, but now the only way to apply for PR is to find a company willing to hire me.
Which I think is going to be impossible.
Feel bad...

If you have already decided that it will be impossible for you to find a job, then it is very likely that you will not get a job because you will not try very hard. If you want to immigrate to Canada, you need to change your attitude. You need to go after what you want and not sit and hope for things to fall into your lap.

You're right. I'm not that kind of person, but totally the opposite. I have my network in Toronto and still in touch with many people for a job opportunity. But from my experience I realized that companies become demotivated everytime I say I need a sponsor to stay longer and everytime they say they can't sponsor. So I think it's realistic to check the situation and see how many chances I have to find a sponsor.

That is why you don't ever say "sponsor". It makes them feel that they will somehow be responsible for you. Just say that you need a job offer to facilitate your immigration. It sounds a lot better.

I'm trying to figure it out what kind of company are likley to be more interested in foreign workers. Multinational companies or small ones? Do you have advice so that I will be able to focus my reserach on a certain target?

You can browse ads from employers on Monster.ca, careerbuilder.ca and workopolis.ca

Also try a searching for sites that are specific with the industry you looking to get into. for example i know a few websites which specialise in warehousing and logistics jobs.

Good luck with your search!!

Hi all,

I'm graduated from BCIT and right now waiting for post graduation visa, and also working on my off campus visa until I get my post graduation permit. I was told so.

My question is, I work for a company in a contract work for 3d animation, modelling etc. So when I'm making a skilled worker application, can I use my contracted work experience in canada?
I'm not sure but contracted work or full time worker may be a bit different.

Thank you for your kindly helps.

Best
