You are supposed to do in writing, then discuss with your lawyer. Most likely, CBSA will be notified and discuss your departure and handover your passport at the point of Exit.

You can scan it and send it through email or fax it. It would be better to fax it. Or allow your lawyer to fax it for you. The process will be a bit quicker that way.
