Hi all.

I wish to pursue higher education in canada to further my job prospects. But the univ website mentions that due to funding/ financial reasons that do not accept international candidates , only canadians.

My query is will I be considered a canadian after my PR card so that I can apply

I have mailed the univ and awaiting reply....

could anybody advise/ guide me regarding this.

I am not sure about universities but I can definately say for colleges that a PR card holder is treated the same way as a Canadian citizen. In fact, as a PR card holder you pay the same fees as the domestic student and not the international student fees. I am sure that the same rules apply for universities also. In fact, people say that for York University even at the stage where your immigration case is under process, you pay domestic student fees only. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the speedy information.

I will message the forum once when I get mail from the univ...........

do you mean that while your immigration is not yet through i.e. while it shows it is in process you can pay local fees for masters degree? if yes those of us that would want to do masters over there can as well go for it while it is still being processed.

hi....

just thought of letting the forum know.
I got a mail from the university saying that only when you are a permanent resident can you apply.

So I guess the universities do not accept applications from international candidates under the domestic students category. At least not in this university.........

If you want to apply before getting your PR card then I think York University is the only option.
