You need more than just the title in letter, Does it describe summary of responsibilities and duties?
About the difference on contract letter and reference letter before and after promotion title), you just need to write a covering letter to explain, and maybe get an affidafit signed by a manager in your company to support this.
but regardless on this covering letter, your experience letter must include responsibilities and duties so you can prove your job and noc as you listed in the schedule 3.

Yeah i have the detailed responsibilities listed in the covering letter. Do i have to have 2 rows in the form (Economic class Question 11) for the same employer but different titles ?

I think that would be best. I have been with the same company for 10 years and held 5 titles. I listed them all separately and yes put the same company name

i would be sending later in march too. but please linsten to the seniors. other than the forms and passports please dont send any other thing. instead use the two months in between to gather all your documents. am new to the forum but have learnt that you experience letter from office will detail your duties so start discussing that with your employers even before the requst comes.

Thank you! Yeah i have decided not to send the reference letter now. As eric suggested, i have split the titles into rows and am also detailing the duties in the covering letter. Wish you good luck with your application!

I will be getting the DD for 1250 CAD today. I will spend one more day reviewing the forms. If everything goes well, i will send the application on Wednesday through DHL.

I mailed the application to Sydney today with DHL. Will i receive an email from CIO when they receive the file? How will I track the application status at NS?

I have been reading this forum and collecting information for the past few months. Also i have been spending time collecting documents required for the full application, in case my initial filing is approved. I must say that this forum is of enormous value to anybody hoping for canada immigration. It is not just the wealth of information alone, but the positive and helpful members that one find here, which is amazing. I also appreciate the fact that senior members always try to keep the momentum and energy and make sure that information is validated.The forum has helped me gain courage to file the application by myself. (I will find out if it was the right choice soon )

I am applying to CIO on march 10 th.
Booked IELTS for April 17 th
NOC code is 0213 - Manager - Software development

Here are the docs i am sending
Forms as in checklist and the checklist
Reference letters of current and previous employer (past 7 years)
Covering letter with job descriptions and responsibilities
DD for 1250 (3 members)
Copies of passports for all 3 (not notarized)
Self addressed Labels


I have the current reference letter in Letter head but the previous one is a scanned document, which my previous manager scanned and sent to me as he is currently out of country. it has all his contact information though.


How do you usually send it through? by Post or courier? Am in India, will registered post be ok?

Do you guys have any suggestion for me? anything i missed?

if you use dhl or any major courier company - you can track your parcel on their internet website with your waybill number as reference...we were able to pin point exact day when parcel was delivered to CIO

we also used a separate sheet to elaborate on our job duties and even though my husband worked at one employer for 5 years, he had different positions and we separated these positions in our explanations of job duties, etc.

Thats nice, did you use separate rows in economic class form for each title or for each company? Also for IELTS, i replied NO and then added an explanation that i will be attaching the test result when applying at Visa office, hope thats fine.

Hi Kris,

Yes - we used different rows for each designation even if it was the same company.
We actually ran out of space because we wanted to detail everything properly so we type up on word and printed it and attached it as an extra sheet.

We did the same for the IELTS, we ticked on No and then gave IELTS and submitted our original results along with full docs. That is fine.

You can register online and then just take certain documents as per their instructions and photos along with you on the day of test.

There's alot of info on this forum about IELTS, suggest that you do a comprehensive search. I do sugest that no matter how confident you are about your english, you enroll into a workshop, or download free practice tests, or buy some learning material.

Its not a straight forward test about the language, its quite tricky and we were glad we prepared for it.

My husband got an overall score of 9 which is highest and i got 8....all thanks to preparation!

Thanks SD, Very useful info, for some reason i am not able to register at british council. I tried once, it failed and next time on, it says i have a registration existing , so cant register anymore.

Any other way to register for IELTS?
