Is a travel support letter required from the university? I am currently studying online while overseas at Brandon university, got my SP approved last week..

My brother just got his letter of approval from university of winnipeg for school start Fall of 2021. Id like to ask some timeline in your experience... He is planning to file under SDS ,and submit his application this end of Feb.

How long does it usually take to get the study permit approved?

Sds applications are experiencing a huge backlogs, in the Philippines, regular applications are being processed faster than SDS which is assigned in Canada visa office. I knew several applicants who applied since March 2020 with first stage approval and they are still waiting for the final decision of their applications.

I suggest you to apply using regular stream. If you have IELTS and GIC, that will be good in regular application also.

Applied in May 2020 SDS
AIP in October,
bio in November
and approval in December.
