Hi Bluemarilyn,

Thanks for sharing your timeline. So, it is true! Process is getting faster now. I'm pretty confident my application is a routine one too. :)
Congratulations!!!

Hi, My application has been in process now going on about 8 months... I hope something happens soon... I really want this to be over...

App received - 23rd June 2014
In Process - 15 August 2014

Not a peep out of them... I requested ATIP notes. But as far as I can see, nothing has been done on my file except background checks.

This is frustrating.

We are almost at the same timeline. You are just couple of weeks ahead of mine. Keep in touch!

I applied in May 2014, with no updates except for receiving the book in August. My permanent resident card expires in September 2015, and it apparently now takes six months for a new permanent resident card. I was hoping not to have to get another one, but do you think I should? Are we still counting on the process taking a solid two years...?

On a different note, I was emailing this week with the assistant to MP Lysane Blanchette-Lamothe. Ms. Blanchette-Lamothe is a member of Parliament and is the Opposition (NDP) Immigration critic. Her Parliamentary Assistant, Natalie Ouimet, inquired with the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship's (MP Chris Alexander) office regarding my concern about disparity in processing times between Winnipeg CIC and other offices which seem to process applications much more quickly, like Scarborough.

Here's what she told me about the response she got back from the Minister's office:

I have just gotten my answer back from the Minister's office. Not surprisingly, the will not divulge the estimated wait times to us. Here is the answer: "No such 2 year discrepancy for sure. It’s true that there can be some difference on the time it takes for an invitation for the test. I don’t think anyone was sworn in that fast in Scarborough or Hamilton."

I would encourage everyone here who is concerned about wait times in the Winnipeg office to contact Ms. Lysane Blanchette-Lamothe's office and encourage her to keep drilling the minister to provide the actual numbers. You can google her name and find her constituent email address.

If you have any plans on going outside Canada, i suggest that you renew your PR.

Winnipeg office is definitely one of the worst in the country. As recently as last year, it was not abnormal to wait 26 months or more for the test on a routine application. They appear to have increased their speed a little over the course of 2014--but you can still expect a wait of around 20 months for the test on a routine application. At least that has been my personal experience.

Good Luck!

20 months???!!! Does it really take that long these days?!!! Can those with recent Winnipeg experience comment please?
Thank you all.

Here is my timeline:

Congrat . Which day of March ???

5 ceremonies are scheduled for the month of March.
Does anyone know the number of ceremonies each month in past years, or before this faster process has started? Just wondering if the number of ceremonies has grown or is still the same as in previous years.
