Is it norman in winnipeg to get the citizenship too long? my girl friends work and leave in winnipeg and her application is almost 24 monht but she never even took the exam? any updates?

Hi guys,

Let's keep this thread updated. Please post any developments with your application as they come. July 2014 applicants from Ontario are already receiving citizenship test notifications. I am hoping somehow there will be a change with the timeline of Winnipeg applicants.

Applied: July , 2013.
Transfer to Winnipeg: Feb , 2014.
Test Date: Dec 15th, 2014

i think 24 months process time is very accurate for Winnipeg applicants. sigh..

Unfortunately it seems Winnipeg is the slowest office in Canada. My sympathies to all of you who are getting processed in Winnipeg....

Just wanted to add mine ... got the test invite yesterday, so looks like there's some movement at least:

Applied: Aug, 2013.
Transfer to Winnipeg: ?? (anyone's guess really)
Test Date: Jan 2, 2015

Winnipeg received Rq January 15, 2014 and have not even picked up the Rq to review it. It has been sitting on a shelf for 11 months now.
Wish there was an indication of where they are at in the Rq queue.

There may be some movement in routine cases but certainly not for us with Rq's.

Hi Everyone,

Glad a Winnipeg Office thread has been started. I, too, am really upset at the processing times for the Winnipeg office, especially when I see elsewhere on the forum that people who applied after me have already taken their oaths (processed by the Mississauga and Scarborough offices in Ontario).

I wonder if we could get a reporter at the Free Press or on the national scene to look into this issue, especially as we get closer to the Federal Election in Fall 2015.

Here is my timeline:
Application sent: 19 May 2014
Application received: 23 May 2014
In Process: 21 July 2014
AOR (Acknowledgement of receipt)+Discover Canada booklet received: 21 August, 2014

New process was in place starting August 1st 2014. Apparently, from 3-stage process down to just 1. Unfortunately mine and your application started getting processed just few days earlier. So we fall under the old scheme. I hope I will be seeing some posts from Winnipeg applicants who submitted their application after August 1st, to see if there are indeed improvements with the process.

Have you tried calling the Winnipeg office to ask for their current processing time for citizenship applications?

Hi, hope everyone stays warm these days.

Here is my time line:

Sent and recd by CIC: Oct-23-2014
Acknowledge letter mail: Dec-4-2014
In process: Dec-15-2014
Transfer to local : Dec-31-2014

Hope Winnipeg office is not affected by our cold weather!!!!!

Hi Aspire,

I had my MP's office call, and they were told that I had applied recently and the wait was two years. I have not tried calling locally myself. It would really be aggravating if my application is getting processed the 'old' way when I paid the new $400 fee.

Did everyone see the Free Press article by Carol Sanders on January 7 regarding 'soaring' citizenship application fees? I think she should do a follow up article on processing times at the Winnipeg office.

[size=10pt][size=10pt]WOW WHAT HAPPEND IN WINNIPEG ??? ??? ??? ???
