Hi, if your biometric is valid till 2026, and we apply in 2023, even though the passport is valid for 5 years, will we get visa till the biometric validity ? or passport validity? thank you....
Thank you Tommy for your reply. May I please confirm again... If my biometrics are valid till 2026 (because I gave my biometrics in 2016) .... and I apply now for a visa and my passport has a 5 years validity.... I will get a 5 years visa? If that is right..... then could you please read the last paragraph of the official page please below ....? kindly, let me know if I have misunderstood it... and that I still will receive a 5 years visa? Thank you very much.your visa validity is decided based on the validty of your passport. For example, if your passport is valid for 5 years, your visa will be valid for 5 years. if it is valid for 10 years then the visa will be valid for 10 years.
Thank you for your response.I have not come across where one can particularly apply for the duration of the visa in this case 10 year visa. You mention your trip duration on the main visa form.Even if you are going for a 2-week holiday and if your passport validity is 5 years then the visa expiry date will be 5 years. For a Canadian visitor visa, the visa expiry date depends on the validity of the passport.
Here are videos of two different people who had different passport validity.
10 years visa validity:
8 years visa validty: Visa photo at 30 second. Iussed in 2022 and valid till 2030.
An applicant with valid biometrics on file can voluntarily re-enrol their biometrics within the 10 year period if they wish to receive a visa or permit that covers a longer period.Thank you for your response.
But what I am trying to say is
My biometrics are expiring in 2026
My passport expires in 2028
If my application is approved, will I get a visa till 2026 or 2028 ?
Why will they give me 2 years on top of biometric expire date? Will they ?
That is correct I am not going there for a permanent settlement, I’ve gone to Canada 4 times, to meet my family, so what concerns me is availing a visa for a longer period of time as I travel there frequently. An applicant with valid biometrics on file can voluntarily re-enrol their biometrics within the 10 year period if they wish to receive a visa or permit that covers a longer period.
For example, a person who wants to apply for a new 10-year visa and who last enrolled their biometric information 8 years ago could receive only a 2-year visa. To receive a 10-year visa, they would have to voluntarily re-enrol their biometric information (and pay the associated fee).
I am sure you are not going to write your duration of stay for 10 years on your main visa application form. You are going there for a short trip on a visitor visa not going there for a permanent settlement.
I am sure your visa if approved will valid till 2028.
That is right, Cheers mate for all the guidance. Also, with a Canadian visa application everything happens from their end. Every next step moves forward when the previous step is already done. If there is an issue with the duration of your biometrics, they will let you know. There is nothing much you can do on your own. They decide and take their own time. You simply submit your visa application and wait for further instructions from their side.
Tommy_2k23..... Your information was incorrect...... I just received my visa...... And although my passport is valid until 2028.... yet I got my visa till 2026,,,, exactly till the date my biometrics expires...... It is not about your passport validity only.... your biometrics validity is as important. Thanks..... I noticed you have also applied for a visa yourself .... I thought you were supporting others only with information. Anyways.... if you have any question... and if i think I have the answers.... you are most welcome to ask.Hi, if your biometric is valid till 2026, and we apply in 2023, even though the passport is valid for 5 years, will we get visa till the biometric validity ? or passport validity? thank you....
I stand corrected. Your case was unique. In the majority of cases, I have seen visas getting valid till the passport expiry date. If your biometrics are valid for 10 years, but your passport expiry date is in 5 years, the applicant gets 5 years visa not for 10 years, These sorts of cases I have seen.Tommy_2k23..... The entire process took 25 days.... and frankly it has taken me by surprise too, considering others wait for very long.I forgot to ask you a question.
how long was the time from we were reviewing your eligibility criteria status until a final decision on your application? was your application for a visitor visa?
from which country did you lodge your application for?
Maybe you already traveled to Canada in the last 10 years or have a valid US visa then your case fell into the CAN+ category, slightly faster processing? The entire process took 25 days.... and frankly it has taken me by surprise too, considering others wait for very long.
So, I started on 1st May, and got my passport Yesterday. And what is strange is... I did not have any updates on my GCkey about my Eligibility or Background Checks.... I kept looking once in a while if it changes.... it was still saying We are reviewing your eligibility and processing your background even though at the bottom it said Your application is approved.... so... in my case it remained unchanged throughout.... The Immigration team perhaps do not have time to change that for every single person...... so I think all these steps are just to keep you busy.....
My personal opinion is....it doesn't matter how things are with you, what they look at is how well established is your sponsor.... if their status is SUPER GOOD you get it.... and IRCC finds all that with a click of a button..... I could suggest... don't look at all these status changes until you receive message... they don't mean anything....
