Will work experience only yield points if in the 24 occupations listed

I understand that a minimum of 12 months of experience is required in last 10yrs under the 24 occupation listed for FSWP. But will additional years of experience in some other fields too yield points?

CIC website says "Total work experience" on the points calculator page. Does not say any thing about which field it should be.

Pls share your valuable thoughts and experiences.

Guys need your help on the above post! Also would like to know if the relevant experience happened 5yrs back, will it be yielding less points compared to some one who has recent experience.
