I have everything but the FBI certificate..I am debating if I should send off the PR application without the FBI's..I am planning to get a visitor record in July and I thought it might be better if my PR is in and the sponsorship has been approved..

My question is that will they approve the sponship without the FBI certificate? If they do will they put a timelimit on the FBI certificate before they return the PR application to me?

Any input appreciated! :)

bump please anyone?

I know some people have sent the app off without the FBI but I don't know if the sponsorship got approved before the FBI records were sent.

I can't answer your question, but I think you are still cutting it close if you want to have the 1st stage approval before getting your visitors visa in July.

I would just wait. I sumbimtted my FBI the April 9th and I got it back in 7 weeks on May 28th. So your will probably be coming any time. Mine came so fast I expected to wait 13 weeks so I mailed my application 2 on May 26th just to find that my FBI cert came in 2 days later. This made me very frusterated, if I would have know it was coming so soon I would have waited.
It is best to send the Certificate with you application, so I would wait. Know I am wondering where I need to send my cert. to, I believe buffalo, but do not know since my file has not been processed.

It is not necessary to have submitted your sponsorship to get a visitor record. I crossed the border by car and got 6 1/2 month visitor record just by telling them that I was planning on submitting the sponsorship for PR. I had no problems. I hope this information helps

The sponsorship will go through once it reaches the embassy they will request it right away.

I was told by an immigration lawyer in Canada that we do not have to wait for the FBI clearance to arrive before sending in our application, that the sponsorship application doesn't have too much to do with the person being sponsored (other than that they look for proof of relationship), and that the FBI letter wouldn't be looked at until our application hit Buffalo. That's the point at which the record of the principal applicant is scrutinized. In Missisauga they just check that the person sponsoring is eligible to do so (which is why that part of the process is usually so much quicker than the second part...)

I see that others are seeing something different - just reporting what I have been advised.

She seemed to be fairly relaxed about adding to ones application while in process.

visa office will request for it so yes u can send it without FBI for now but why dont u wait and send it all together as without it might delay it at the visa office???

I was hoping to get a sponsorship approved (but its probably too late by now) before I ask for a visitor's record when I visit him while my PR is process. I thought the way the IO will be convinced more that the process is happening and see my husband's intention/desire to support me while I visit.

And one other reason is that my 2 police certificates from another country and the State that I reside will expre in late July. If the FBI's certificate comes back before its great but if they deny me then both of those certificates will expire and I will have to do them all over again..so :o

Our lawyer recommended we wait to submit our application until we have it ALL. She said that sometimes the delay in not having it with the package can be small, but sometimes once your application gets put aside it takes a while for it to be picked up again, even longer than you would have been waiting to file. So we decided to just wait it out.

From looking at these forums, yes, it can go either way for people. So choice is yours really in the end.

We got our sponsorship approval already and have not yet received our FBI clearance back successfully.
