Actually I received my Canadian PR VISA ( Single Entry) which is going to be expired on May 2019. We are three family members. Myself Principal Applicant, my spouse & kid. Our passports are going to be expired on April 2020, Dec 2019 & my kid’s one would be Jan 2022. We have early renewed our passports. I raised a query to CIC regarding early renewal of my passports .
They replied”
“To confirm your Permanent Resident status, the following original documents must be valid at the time of your landing in Canada:
· Passport, travel or identity document (including the secure visa counterfoil (IMM 1346), if applicable), and
· Confirmation of PR (IMM 5688) and instructions issued by the Canadian visa office.”
Now, my question is, what does valid passport mean? Will it be any problem, if we travel with both the passports ( New + VISA stamped in old passport which is not expired) keeping the old passport intact , I mean:

Now, my question is, what does valid passport mean? Will it be any problem, if we travel with both the passports ( New + VISA stamped in old passport which is not expired) keeping the old passport intact , I mean:
- Old Passport has more than six months expiry.
- The film on the biographic data pages is not peeling.
- The old passport is otherwise not torn, damaged, mutilated or has been washed or laundered.
- It has sufficient blank pages.
- Passport is fully legible i.e. photo is intact, passport number is readable and name is legible.
We would be landing in Canada on 1st week of April 2019
