Will there be a CEC draw?

Hello guys,

I'm really disappointed after seeing today's draw score 478. I'm under Canadian Experience Class with a score of 462. I got an invite on August 20 but I rejected it as I hadn't completed the 52 weeks due to vacation and lock down. Since then I've been waiting for an invite but neither the points seem to be going down nor there is a hope for CEC draw. I now regret rejecting the August 20 invite. I'm wondering how to increase my score. It's hard for people under Canadian Class.

Anyone else on the same boat?

CEC
Have you maxed out your CELPIP/ IELTS scores?
Have you tried learning French?
Have you attempted any of the above before lamenting that it is hard to increase your acore, a thing lots of other people are doing on an almost daily basis?

Yes, I have.

Please read the post again clearly. Are you on the same boat as me or most of us? While it might be easy for you to blurt out comments, some of us come from a non-french speaking country. It's almost impossible or extremely expensive for us to learn and attempt French exams. As to the English comprehensive exams, I've given two attempts and scored 7.5 in IELTS.

So, if and only if you have something valuable to share then please do rather than putting other people down.

I asked you questions, i didn’t put you down. And no, i’m not from a French speaking country. I don’t have any French knowledge. I did other things to increase my score. Which is what i was trying to get you to think about... when i asked you some simple questions.

Anyway good luck with your application in future.

Well, the word "lamenting" seemed quite rude to me.

I already gave IELTS twice. I'm not able to score 8 in writing. I don't think it's a good idea to waste 300$ again for IELTS and write again.

What did you do to improve your scores?

Thanks in advance

Try CELPIP if you think you are better at speaking English.

Simple we all already know English .... the problem comes when u have to sit and concentrate for 4 hours . Do all tests in one sitting don’t go any where don’t do anything else but prectice test .do this atleast 15 days . And I guarantee you you will get at least 7.5 in each if you do for month practice not only u will get 8 and above grades and funny thing will be for reading and writing you will be done in half of provided time.

By far the easiest way to increase your score is to improve your language test results. Getting a job offer would obviously increase your score but this is very difficult to do due to the LMIA process. Same for learning French or increasing your level of education for more points - these take time.

I would personally not count on their being another CEC specific draw. IRCC doesn't normally do these and the number of CEC specific draws this year was extremely unusual.

I would work to improve your language test scores no matter what this takes. This is your best / easiest path. You should have an advantage over non-CEC applicants since you are in Canada and presumably using English every day.

Good luck.

I am in the same situation. CRS score 462 . Waiting fir CEC draw
Don't wait. Quite possible it may not happen. Increase your score or look into the PNP programs.

With a score of 462, there is a very high likelihood of getting in regular all inclusive draws maybe after the next 4-6 draw instances. Would happen once the higher score candidates get out of the pool. An alternate chance which is more definite..with a running score of mid 470's, there is high likelihood that the PNP draw score cutoff would actually end up getting you an offer on PNP. Some points to ponder, no doubt. All the best!

I disagree that Express Entry score are going to drop this far. Obviously just my opinion. IRCC just introduced new rules awarding more points for French language scores. This will keep scores high. Also, we keep seeing new candidates with higher scores joining the pool.

Agreed PNP is a possibility.

Krrishnith It seems like people get offended when asking about CEC-only draw. I went through many threads and found that people (mostly FSW) are crazy about increasing their scores...it's like life or death situation for them. To be honest, I don't think you need to re-sit IELTS if it's a pain for you (It is for me as well..but I have to this Christmas because I'm sitting at 448 because my Speaking is 6.5...). Reason being that over the last couple of days, government's announced that they will make it easier for students, PGWP...essentially inland applicants to easily land PR. Attaching the article:
https://www.studyinternational.com/news/canadian-permanent-residents-international-students/

Cost for IELTS is ~$350 and it's such a scam really. I believe in near future, they would either increase the points of CEC applicants (adding more criteria, add more points for Canadian Experience) or conduct CEC-only draws...instead of grouping us with outland applicants which is bs for many reasons.

At the end of the day, things will get better for you if you have spent money for education, working, paying taxes here ;)
