Will paid Internship after graduation be counted as work experience for CEC

Hello everybody,
I need a help regarding 1 year work experience requirement for CEC application.

I graduated from a Canadian University in Ontario in 2012. I have gained 7 months of work experience in my profession after my graduation. I am planning to do an Internship for 4 months in the same profession. I was wondering whether the Internship will be counted as work experience for CEC application as it is not part of my study and it is paid.

Please help me regarding this issue.

Work done on offcampus wp after graduation for 90 days while waiting for pgwp will count.As in 90 days you have to surrender offcampus wp so experiance after 90 days will not count.

Any work experiance gain on co-op workpermit will not count even after graduation it will not counted .Please read OP25A for clearification.

Copy pasted from manual..if you are graduated then your exp will be counted doesnot matter if its Internship or off campus work it need to be
1.full time
2.you need to be graduated not student any more

Please read op25a manual



Applicants must have 12 months of full-time, Canadian skilled work experience (or the equivalent in part-time work experience) in one or more NOC 0, A or B occupations within the 36 months preceding the date on which their application is received.
Any period of employment during which the applicant was engaged in full-time study will not be included in calculating the period of qualifying work experience (e.g. work experience gained through co-op work permits, off-campus work permits while a full-time student and on-campus work permits). [R87.1(3)(a)]. Officers should verify the work permit information in GCMS.
Any periods of self-employment or unauthorized work will not be included in calculating the period of work experience [R87.1(3)(b)]. A person who has worked in Canada without authorization has failed to comply with A30(1), and on that basis could be found inadmissible under A41.
The applicant does not have to be employed at the time of application, but they must have held temporary resident status during the period of qualifying work experience acquired in Canada [R87.1(3)(c)].

if you got T4 ,NOA and paid for that internship it will count.
full time or part time week should be 30 hrs per week. Any week you did less than 30 hrs will not count.Count 52 weeks with 30hrs of paid experiance and you can apply.

Hi everyone,

After my graduation, I got an oportunity as intern in an company for seven months. During the time, I am only able to claim my expenses every month and I have the bank statements proving that claims have been paid to me by my company. After that company made me permanent full time employee where I continued to work for 11 months. Now total of 1 Year 6 months experience. Can I claim this experience in express entry. Please suggest

This depends on when you submitted your application for PGWP. All the work experience done before you submitted the PGWP will not be counted because at that time you were operating on your study permit. All experience gained after the submission of the PGWP application will be counted towards CEC regardless of when the permit was actually approved. So do the math and see if you still have 12 months of full time work experience. Or you could wait 1 more month and claim the 12 months CEC for the permanent role to be on the safe side. CEC points are given in years of experience, so the 6 or 7 months would not make any difference in points given.
