Hi all.

So I've just finished two years on the youth mobility scheme in Canada, but due to a long series of complications and misunderstandings on my part, in between the first and second year (which were issued as separate work visas), I overstayed by a couple of months, including a couple of weeks where I continued to work. I left the country to return to the UK, and was able to re-enter Canada the following year using my second work permit, and have now left the country (when that permit expired). I'm going for CEC at the moment, but I'm terrified that I will be ineligible because of what happened back in 2012. Any advice?

You should provide an explanation letter explaining your oversight. Eligibility for just CEC is based on factors such as employment, medicals, security checks. That being said, it will depend on the case officer that is processing your case.

usually, a VO will discount any work experience that is not authorized. As long as you meet the requirements for authorized, skill work experience, it will probably be OK... But do provide an explanation, including what you did to make it right, as soon as you realized your mistake...
