I was recently admitted into Uni of Saskatchewan and in their acceptance letter, they have mentioned that I do not require English Proficiency Test. I did take ALevels English Literature and had an A in it. I was wondering however since they do ask if you've taken an IELTS exam or not, do I still need to give IELTS exam?

I heard it does not matter you are going to apply as SDS or nonSDS, except you come from an English-speaking country, an IELTS certificate with good scores in all bands is always been recommended.
IELTS is a must if you apply under SDS -- but it's not a must if you apply under non SDS. I have known plenty of people who didn't take IELTS because they took IGCSE/A Levels English which was enough to waive it. They're all currently studying in Canada.
It's not mandatory for non-SDS or non-NSE (for Nigerian applicants) applications.
Having said that, I applied via regular stream and I submitted my IELTS (though my admission offer exempted me). I ordered GCMS notes and my IELTS scores were noted as part of the Eligibility assessments. So though it's not mandatory, including it with good scores could be a positive help in your application

You mentioned in your thread that you got exempted from IELTS. If you're applying under non SDS then you can clear your mind from IELTS requirements.

. I always wondered also and I searched for a positive GCMS note for SP application but couldn't find.
