Will my husband's unpaid court fine affect my PR?

My husband was caught traveling on a train without a ticket in the UK in 2015. He, however, had to leave the country in a month because his visa was set to expire.

His details were taken by the police but he did not hear from them before leaving the country. We applied for his police certificate this year only to realize that he had an appearance in court 5 months after he left and that the outcome was a fine.

Will the unpaid fine affect our PR application even though I am the main applicant?

Did he stay in England for more than 6 months cumulatively in his life. In other words, does he need a police certificate from England?

If yes, this might affect your PR application. Does not matter who is the main applicant here.

While the offence is probably not a show-stopper, it's certainly likely to cause problems, especially if the sentence (fine) has not been completed. IRCC may want all the court records.

Thank you all for the useful feedback. My husband has paid the fine online and has an e-receipt. Can we attach it to our documents as a proof that the sentence (fine) has been completed? Is there any other document we would need in addition to the receipt?

It’s a minor offence and given that it has been completed and a fine paid, it shouldn’t cause too much of an issue other than delay. Submit all of this documentation and explain in LOE.
