Hi Guys,

I am currently in USA, moving to Canada in mid october. I came to know that we need to submit Driving history records from US DMV's to exchange US license to Ontario License. I have a moving violation last december(broke red light), will it have any impact on getting Ontation License without giving tests?

I think so. Your 2 year experience clock start date will reset to the day you got ticket and given that it was on last December, they may refuse to exchange it. I don't have san official link to prove this, but remember reading such a thing in this forum.

Pretty sure it’s direct exchange for a US license. If you have 2 years experience, you’ll get a full licence. A single moving violation shouldn’t affect you.

Exchange a driver’s licence
You can exchange an out-of-province licence for an Ontario licence, if you are re-locating from:

  • any Canadian province or territory
  • Canadian Armed Forces
  • U.S. States
  • Australia, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, the Isle of Man, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Switzerland, Taiwan

You will get a license,no issues with that. However Insurance companies will penalise you for that ticket with higher rates.
