It shouldn't have any affect on sponsorship of your spouse (if you're sponsoring your spouse). I've known many people who sponsored their spouse while they were on mat leave. In fact it made it a little easier for them because they were able to travel and live together while still getting the income from work.

If you're sponsoring your parents, I'm not sure if it will affect it because in parental sponsorship there is a minimum income that must be met and mat leave might not meet that requirement.

Are you sponsoring your spouse or parents?

Then the mat leave won't affect the sponsorship at all.
Congratulations on the upcoming birth of your baby! Canada is definitely the place where I'd want to deliver my baby as well... Perhaps you'll have the option afterwards to go and live with your husband after the baby is born (as long as you're not a PR yourself.) Good luck with everything.

Since neither of you or your wife is PR of Canada, your question is not related to Family Class sponsorship.
Looks like your wife is on PGWP so try to post your question on foreign worker section.
