Hi I got email from CPC-Ottawa to submit passport for immigrant visa . They have further asked me to update if my spouse is outside North America so that visa can be printed at another office.

My spouse resides outside North America and she is my dependant in Application, so my question is that will she be given a different COPR letter and her expiry date of landing on visa different than me?

COPR is issued separately for each applicant on the PR application and the expiry date on the visa is generally 12 months from the date of medicals.

Also remember that the PA must be at the first landing. A dependent cannot land before the PA, regardless of the COPR expiry date.

My medical expires in Sept 2015 whereas my spouse medical expires in next 10 months (may 2016). Will expiry of my spouse landing date/immigrant visa/time to land in Canada be till sept 2015 or will it be according to her medical i.e. May 2016.

The validity of your spouse's medical will be according to her medical date. I will reconfirm this once I receive the COPRs for myself and my family as our medical test dates are one month apart.

Not yet buddy, hopefully before the weekend or early next week.

Hi,

Today my family received their passports and COPR and they have the same expiry date as my immigrant visa. It means it is 12 months from the date of immigration medicals of the principal applicant.

Thanks. Actually the rule which i have come to know is visas will all be valid for 12 months from the date of the first medical examination
