Will it happen again?

Right after the 2016 U.S. Presidential election, this website crashed (apparently) from the overwhelm of people looking for info/help to move to Canada.
This [sub] forum, along with the other two in this newly created `Moving to Canada from the U.S.' forum was created after that crash.

So...anyone else think it may be Deja Vu in a few weeks? I'm NOT looking to discuss politics, merely looking for opinions on the chance of it happening again.

Unlikely. Economic outlook in Canada and immigration sentiment quite different than it was in 2016.

I'll go out on a proverbial limb and say that it may have had more to do with the winner in 2016, than the economic outlook...hence the `again' in the thread title.

People don’t typically move from a country in better economic conditions to one with a worse economy even when they don’t like the leader. US citizens are likely considering other countries not Canada if they want to move.

It just seems odd that the entire section that was added to these forums after that crash, seemed to be tailored to Americans, hence the `Moving to Canada from the U.S.' title.
The `Permanent Residence in Canada' sub-forum that was created has become the de-facto forum for most of the discussions about PR from all, not just those from the U.S.

That makes no sense in the context of this thread.
People were considering Canada partially because economy was good, decent opportunities, etc. If Americans want to leave the US they are unlikely to consider Canada as a good option unless they have sort of ties to Canada. The US expat market preferred countries have changed dramatically in a decade. UK may have also been on the list as well but likely off the list now as well.

Why Americans would want to come here when a lot of Canadians are plotting on how to leave this once ok country ?

The saying of the Canadian Dream, has turned into the Canadian nightmare for a lot of people
