Hi, i am a canadian, and i grew up in Toronto, but I am currently finishing my bachelors in belgium. Its a 3 year bachelors in computer science at the best french uni here and I would like to move to quebec or ottawa in the future. I will graduate soon, and wonder if its better to do a masters for 1 year (2 more years with an internship is also an option) or move this summer to ottawa or quebec and start working. I do not want to go back to Toronto.

Ideally, id like to start to work, but i fear the market wont take me in because of covid and the fact that i have just a 3 year degree with no experience . I speak french and english. Ive never worked, but i read many stories about how hard it is to get your first job etc. esp if ur a foreigner (im canadian yes but my degree is still foreign and i think they will treat me as such), and since my bachelors is 3 years, i am scared they will discredit it and throw my resume straight in the trash upon reading it. Are my fears irrational or is it the reality?

I wish i could try searching for a job, and in case of failing to do so, continue my masters, but thats not an option since I dont think id be able to return back to belgium easily due to covid restrictions.

Also, i was wondering, if on the resume I can just write "Bachelors of Science in Computer Science" without mentioning the fact its 3 years and get away with it? or if i decide to do the masters, could i get away with not writing the fact its 4/5 years?

tldr: should i bother looking for entry level job with a belgian bachelors or upgrade my degree for better chances.

You usually need to specify the time period you were in school or at a job on a CV. When it comes to IT jobs it is often more about your skill level so the 3 yr degree May not be an issue. The fact that you have no work history and attended a university that many Canadian employers may not be familiar with could be issues. Would start researching what the demand is for your specific skill set and interest. You can try applying for jobs from Belgium but I would suggest getting a Canadian phone # and address or your application is likely to be filtered out as someone who can not work in Canada.
