Will I have problems at the border?

I am getting married this month to my GF.

Thing is, in 2007 I got deported for over staying my visa for 2 years on visitor. I had a 1 year bar against me. And I am also banned from the US until 2015 Dec. (Over stayed visa for 15 yrs as a child not my fault but in their eyes it's different)

Now I was told by the Canadian Embassy that just do a normal entering and so on. I come from Luxembourg so I get the visa at the airport. Do I tell them I am getting married to my gf or not?

Cause her parents invited me over for Christmas and all. So we figured to get married either in Dec or 1st week in Jan. And I'll be staying at her place for the whole 2 weeks I am there.

Unfortunately none of us can predict what will happen at the border. Whether you are allowed in and for how long is ultimately up to the immigration officer you encounter.

Given that you overstayed in Canada previously and had a one year ban - I think there's certainly a chance you may be examined more closely by immigration. Make sure you have proof of your return ticket. I would also bring proof that demonstrates you have strong ties to Luxembourg and have no plans to remain in Canada long term.

Are you coming to Canada to get married? If so - I certainly wouldn't volunteer this information. But if you're specifically asked, don't lie about it either.

Alright thank you. Yeah I was told by lawyers and the Embassy shouldn't be a problem. I just got to please the officer at the time.

You bet they will give you crap for that. They will think you will get married and STAY in Canada instead of just being a visitor. I wouldn't say anything about it honestly, unless you are directly asked.

Yeah I figured I know how customs or immigration acts with people on things.

Inland takes 2 yrs to get papers and outside is 5 to 7 months only.

I wanted to get married to my gf but for some reason when the plane was coming down I changed my mind cause I live in a rich country and got it good but we might get married no idea yet, we are still talking about it.

So anyways immigration officer was nice and kind I told him everything he had asked. I am staying here for 16 days. He ended up giving me a visa for 6 months! But I am still leaving.

So yeah no fear guys don't stress over it. Just answer the questions and everything will be fine. Don't panic, don't sweat, and focus on everything anything they'll ask you. I even stayed and talked to the guy for half hour cause I love talking about businesses!

Just north america economy is not doing so well. I sell stuff online so I can keep doing this and not worry about finding a job in Canada. So yeah good luck too you all!

If you were actually deported in 2007, you should not have been admitted to Canada as a visitor.

Look you only get the news from the TV NEWS or papers. I been living in Europe for 5 years. Economy in Luxembourg is very good, and the health care system and all is just better then US or Canada. Thing is I grew up in North America, so I am use to this life style.

All those new exotic cars you see on TV. Well guess what? The 1st week it's on the market. I seen them all in different colors within days on the roads! I mean if that's not good economy then I don't know what is. Then all the buildings being build in the country and the jobs are there. Just not my thing.

Well they did hold me in a detention centre for a month, put me on a plane and got the 1 year exclusion order. So no idea what you make of that?

Basically it means if you DO try to immigrate here, your file will be scrutinized big time. Plus your chances for an interview will be higher.

I agree with PMM. You couldn't have been deported. Otherwise you would have needed an ARC to return to Canada. I think you just receive an exclusion order. See below for more information. You should be able to tell based on the IMM number of the document you recieved when you were removed.
