Hey all,
I landed in Canada as a PR on October 2018 after working on an H1b in the US for many years.
1. In 2019 I left the country for a few vacations/business trips to the US and Asia.
2. In 2020 I didn't leave the country for a single day
3. In 2021 I spent 7 months in the US on an H1b visa. I moved back to canada January 2022 after negotiating a remote job
4. In 2022 I will be spending the entire year in Canada and filing for citizenship end of 2022.

Will I be scrutinized more due to my absence in 2021? I would like to prepare myself for this. Been reading the forums and it seems a bit scary. Its a bit in the future but I would like to know what the implications are.,

The important thing for your application is that you meet the physical presence requirement and complete the physical presence calculator that you submit with your application completely, truthfully, and accurately. You do not want to miss any absences or mix up any dates on the form - and be sure to list any day trips taken outside of the country as well.

Nobody here can speak for IRCC or give you a definitive answer. Your application could be routine and straightforward - or you could be invited to submit extra documents, invited for an interview, get a residency questionnaire, etc. Only IRCC can make those decisions based on the information in your application. Your task is to follow the instructions and IRCC will do the rest.

I thought that I might face extra scrutiny with my application because I was counting a lot of time spent in Canada before I became a PR. As well as a number of day trips etc... Despite only being 5.5 days over the 1095 day requirement I ended up not having to submit any extra information or face extra scrutiny - but I did my part by being as thorough as possible with the physical presence calculator.

Thanks! I have been maintaining a rigorous account of my trips.
