Hi

I am getting married shortly in canada but i worry that my immigration under the family class will be jepodised because i was arrested and prosecuted for attempted rape by my ex partner even though the evidence was clear that i did not do this and that i was cleared of this allegation i still have this hanging over me in the form of a criminal file even though i now hold a very high UK government security clearance for my work and have never been arrrested before or since.

I really dont know to approach this on my immigration forms other then to be completely open and honest and ask them to actually read the reports of the trial etc.

thx

1. You will have to answer "yes" to the question on the application "have you ever been arrested or detained"
2. Your Police Certificate (You have applied for it haven't you?) should show no conviction.

thanks

i do worry about the social stigma about what ive been through and i have the paperwork for the police certificates but i believe as i am in the uk i need to sign a waiver allowing the canadian high commission in the UK to access my records which will show no convictions

cheers

my wife to be also wants me to stay in canada after the wedding while the residency is processed but i feel that maybe this would be irresponsible and that i should work in the UK while the residency comes through as otherwise ill just be sitting around not able to work for anything from 7 months to a 1 year and perhaps the canadian immigration will feel that i am taking advantage by entering the country and not leaving and being a burden on canada

thanks
