I was wondering if I call cic Mississauga if they'll give me any information, it's been 48 days since my application has been received and my wife hasn't heard anything at all, and I'm starting to get worried. Or does my wife the sponsor have to call?

im not inside Canada, but there's a number you can call from outside Canada that transfers you to them and it says if you are the applicant or representative of the applicant.

Some agents will not provide information to anyone other than the person in question; unless you are named as a representative.
Why not do as Wilson suggests, try.

Best thing is to send them an email about your application as I told you before there is a new system in place allowing applicants to ask about their applications while Application past processing times

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse-apply-after.asp

go to the link Application past processing times

Good luck

the only thing that worries me is the part that say "Please do not send the same enquiry more than once as it will delay the processing of your application. " if enquirying twice slows down the process, wouldn't one time slow it down? I don't wanna make the process any slower. :o

Actually I think that your wife can authorize you as a person who can receive information about the application.

I as the applicant was able to get some information when I called about a problem with our application but not all, the girl advised I get my my partner to call back later as she would be able to access more of the file.

btw the worse they could do if I called an asked is tell me they can't hand out the information right? they can't slow down the processing of the application or deny it?

No, they can't do either just because you called. Make the call and find out what you can, it's the only way to allay your concerns.

is your application a standard one? I mean they said if applications are not straight forward it will take some time. I think it is your right to contact them esp bec it has passed the announced processing time!! at least to know if they actually received it or not. If you ask once it will not affect you?

You are right, they can refuse to give you the information and calling the call centre for information does not slow your application.
Note that calls are recorded.

okay i just wanna make sure they can't do anything other than refuse information because im not the sponsor. I dont wanna get denied for calling and not being the sponsor. lol. silly thinking, i know.

If you called them and said that you are a convicted axe murderer but did not put it on your application, or, you have six wives and none of them are the woman you say you are married to...
then you might get a lot of questions and maybe a refusal :D
