Will a previous undocumented visit affect my chances of getting a PR?

I am a US citizen, going to be applying family class/spousal for a PR. About 10 years ago, when my common law husband (now ex) was still living in Canada, I made several extended visits to him and never had a visitors visa, although I did make the occasional trip back to the US. I was using my parents address as my legal address, but not working since I was usually in Canada. Never had any issues because of it, but is this something that could trip me up on my upcoming app?

Very doubtful that it will cause any problems. Just be honest. You always left on your own (no deportation of exclusion order, right?), and it was a while ago, so should be no problem. But do disclose your whereabouts honestly.

Never any problem i.e. deportation, exclusion, turned back at border, etc. I really didn't understand at the time, being young and stupid, that I was even supposed to have a visa. Just figured since I wasn't working it would be fine...........would hate for it to trip me up now, but I'm more afraid that not being fully honest will come back to bite me. I'm concerned that they will not allow me to stay while my PR is being processed, so I'm going to keep a residence, bank account, cell phone etc. to make sure I don't give them any reason to think I've cut ties with the US and won't abide by the visitors visa.
Any other suggestions?
