Hi,
I am a PR (landed on Apr 08, 2016) and have been in Canada (Ontario) for past 4 years (on work permit). At the time of my application I had applied for my wife (hence it was a joint application). My wife's time duration in Canada is the same as mine and we did the landing on the same day. Now my wife wants to Sponsor her sister of a PR.

So given this scenario, can my wife sponsor her sister for a PR under the Family Class ? What will be the timelines ?

My sister-in-law plans to work here once she is here.

I tried reading on CIC but it kind of confused me. So I will really appreciate inputs from forum members.

Is the sister 19 or under and single? If not she cannot sponsor since she's married.

Only if the sister is orphaned, under 18 years of age and unmarried. Otherwise - no.

It doesn't matter if sister is under 19 and single. Sister has to be orphaned as well to be eligible to be sponsored. As long as one of her parents is alive, she cannot sponsor her sister.

Thank you mikeymyke, scylla, screech339. She is married and not orphaned. So looks like Express Entry is only option available for my sister-in-law.
