if husband wife came to Canada and after a few months wife wants to quit relationship and get divorce, is it good for her to renounce her PR while existing canada or she can leave it as it is and it will automatically expire after some time as she has no plans to come back. Will the renouncing help in case the husband wants to remarry back home and sponser the new wife?

During the immigration process points wife points were also considered so if she leaves will it impact the husbands status as well even after he has received PR and it has been half a year he is in Canada.

please advise

She can leave and her PR status will expire on its own. It will have no impact on the husband at that time. He will be free to remarry and sponsor a new spouse. Just don't rush into things but take them easy, cheers.

Thanks. I was wondering if wife doesnt cancel her PR status then when the husband re-marries CIC will do additional verification or would investigate into the divorce thing but if the wife has cancled her PR then it would be clear for CIC that she came and went back and also cancelled PR.

Your thoughts?

just to clarify PR cards expire PR status never expires or gets cancelled automatically. PR has to be specifically renounced or can be revoked for failing to meet residency obligation but that only happens if someone reenters the country and gets flagged for failure.
