Is this correct or accurate? My wife must purchase a bus ticket and travel ten hours each way in order to have her biometrics processed before she is even eligible to apply for a temporary resident visa so she can come and see me? Are there seriously only three locations in the entire country of Mexico where she can go to have this done? Not only is this unfair but it also doesn't seem believable.

Can someone validate this claim with credible evidence?

Always use the CIC web site to verify information.

No, it's just extremely frustrating that she has to travel to another city in order to get biometrics, and that there are only three cities in the entire country where this is available. Oh well, it must be done.

Why does she need to get biometrics? Is she Mexican?

Sorry, I should have clarified this, and yes she is :/
We are trying to save up for a Family Class Sponsorship so it's really difficult when all these extra expenses keep adding up - $170 for the fee for her and her daughter, $250 round trip on the bus, $100 for the application... That's $520 in total.

You really need to read the link that Scylla posted. It gives the list of nationalities that are required to give biometrics, and Mexico is not listed.

Damn, I feel like an idiot now.
I saw the map of the location centres on the link that he posted and immediately assumed that since there were locations in Mexico, that Mexico was required to have this done.

Thanks for pointing that out for me

They have this service at most visa application centres, because some people from those countries may be living and working elsewhere, so they need to have this option.
On the bright side, be glad your wife doesn't live in Murmansk, Russia, where the closest centre is a 36 hour train ride away. :) (It should be noted that Russians don't have to give biometrics, but this was one example that came to mind.)
